Sabotage Studio has announced a major\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>sales milestone.<\/p>\n

In a tweet<\/a> posted on the official\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>Twitter account earlier today,\u00a0Sabotage announced that\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>sold 100,000 copies within its first day on release.<\/p>\n

That’s a pretty impressive number, putting\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>on par with indie smash hits like\u00a0Slime Rancher 2<\/em>\u00a0and ahead of sensations like\u00a0Core Keeper<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The figure counts across all of the platforms that\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>is available on, meaning PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

Perhaps more impressively, though,\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>is available on both Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Plus game catalog, but the tweet refers specifically to copies sold rather than player numbers, so 100,000 people picked up\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>outside of subscription services.<\/p>\n

If you’ve somehow missed out on the\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>talk, it’s a JRPG-style adventure created by the Quebec City-based Sabotage Studio.<\/p>\n

You might know Sabotage’s name from retro-style platformer\u00a0The Messenger<\/em>; indeed,\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>takes place in the same world as that game, although you don’t need to play either one to experience the other.<\/p>\n

Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>follows the adventures of Valere and Zane, two children born on the summer and winter solstices who must battle a villain known only as The Fleshmancer.<\/p>\n

The game takes inspiration from classic SNES-era RPGs like\u00a0Chrono Trigger<\/em>,\u00a0Breath of Fire<\/em>, and\u00a0Super Mario RPG<\/em>, and if you’re an RPG aficionado, you’ll probably notice similarities to later RPGs like\u00a0Golden Sun\u00a0<\/em>as well.<\/p>\n

In her\u00a0Sea of Stars\u00a0<\/em>review, TechRaptor’s Tanushri Shah awarded the game 7.5 out of 10, praising its “intuitive” combat and “wonderful” soundtrack but criticizing its “lackluster” narrative and lack of an overall “lasting impression”.<\/p>\n
